Blog Post #1

1. In the article "Destroyed" by Peter F Martin  he emphasizes that not only is the use of steroids cheating, but the abuse is detrimental to the athletes health as well. Performance enhancers have a huge negative impact on sports, the competition is meant to be played fairly and naturally. Many sports fan complain of the cheating damaging the game, but the underlying issue is the players. Athletes who use performance enhancers are victims of steroid abuse. They will live with the consequences of their actions for the rest of their life, (which may not be too long after retirement). The writer urges sports fans to look at the bigger picture and consider the athletes are just as human as anyone else.

2. Not only are steroids and performance enhancers a danger to the sports, they also have a negative effects on the players health as well. Sports fans and commentators complain that the games they love are being damaged by steroid abuse. When in reality the health and well being of the players should be the major concern.

3. In the last paragraph of the article "Destroyed" Peter F Martin says, "Athletes are as free as other people to make mistakes and suffer the consequences; in short, they are humans like the rest of us." To me, this quote is saying even  professional athletes, who are in the spotlight often, are allowed to make mistakes and pay the consequences just like the rest of us. The only difference is our mistakes are not blasted all over the media.
